No joke, it’s pretty much impossible to find a car by a manufacturer that didn’t benefit from human rights abuses one way or another. Most European cars are from companies founded (or funded) by Nazi Germany or its axis friends. Same goes for Japanese cars. In the US, either the founder is a seething racist (like Ford and Tesla) or the company has been collaborating too much with the army (like Jeep). And don’t get me started with China.

I really wonder how people like you get through life, is every purchase a moral dilemma?

Every German company made things for the Nazis, they were a total war economy, and Henry Ford is long dead.

Considering that I don’t have a car, I’ve been boycotting most media and many brands for years, and I have no friends because nobody shares the same ethics as I do? Yeah every purchase is and should be a moral dilemma. (The proper solution is to drop society and go raise my own crops in the middle of the mountains, someday I’ll save up to do just that)

Bought it used long, long after Ford had died and there’s no obvious connections anymore.

Trying to compare the regular, everyday villainy of modern Ford Motor Company to Musk’s cartoon super villainy seems like something a Tesla owner would say as a coping mechanism.

If we’re going to judge everything and everyone today on things that happened a hundred years ago, done by people who are only vaguely subject related then we’re all guilty and we should all kill ourselves.

Let’s just let history be history? Germans today aren’t responsible for the Nazis anymore either, ffs.

Part Jewish here, yes the Nazi sympathizing was awful. But at the same time, he spearheaded massive improvements for workers.

Does that make up for supporting Nazis? No. But most people are some mix of good and bad

When I was 15 I read a book that said Hitler couldn’t be completely evil cause he improved the lives of the German people. I’d just rather not have had all the bad shit he did.

There’s no such thing as completely evil, that’s fairytale shit. Every bad person in history was a complete and complex human being with their own motivations. Hitler probably thought he was doing the right thing. That’s a lot scarier than the “he was just evil” hand wave.

And yes it’s definitely much scarier

Until he got the whole country bombarded, tons of them killed, and drove the country into the brink of economic collapse? Poor argument. If you’re gonna say he did something worthwhile take off the fucking kid gloves and admit no matter how absolutely horrific a manner in which he did it, Nazi experiments advanced knowledge of medicine and anatomy.

Those experiments didn’t advance a thing. That’s a myth. They had no scientific rigor. Nothing was gained from that.

To be fair, not all of the advancements were intentional. Much of modern medical ethics are based entirely on the fucked up shit Nazis did. Off the top of my head though they proved a lot of shit didn’t work and invented a high power electron magnescope. I would have to circle back to fully remember everything.

Ford was a literal Nazi sympathiser as well. I don’t think there’s an ‘ethical’ car you can buy.
