It’s blatant extortion now.

According to the US Supreme Court, a US president cannot be prosecuted for crimes (if they’re related to their official duties, but whatever goes, I guess). This means that Canada is faced with the fact that they’re being attacked by a foreign power with a ruler not beholden to the rule of law. If they give in, they’re going to be conquered by a king who is not bound by a national constitution, legislative body, nor courts. This is an existential threat to their freedom as individuals with rights.

      If they give in

lol, no. The US are about to rediscover why Canadians were so feared in the world wars. Canada literally exists because we didn’t want to be part of the US. If you want Washington burned down a second time, keep at it.

And I will not relent upon my statements of fact that Trump is an asshole, rapist, pedophile, fascist, lying, narcissistic cuck until he is impeached or dies. See how likely it is for me to stop saying these things?

Edit: forgot rapist, so hard to remember everything he’s so shitty

It’s a given if you understand how it all works.

      I’ll break it down for you;

What has he said many times recently regarding Canada that has been so newsworthy?

Could it be something about the US absorbing them as the 51st state? He has stated several times that he has no intention to let up, or “bend” on this- or offer any conditions. So, it’s acceptable to assume that the answer to this question lends fairly well to the next one:

What do you think will need to happen before he decides to drop the tariffs?

As stated, he’s offered no conditions. Which is not a stretch to conclude that-

He won’t drop the tariffs until…

I honestly hope this just fuels our country to find other, better, trade partners and to also bring in free trade between provinces.

He says the US doesn’t need Canada, we should do the same.

In case people don’t realize. Canada shares an Arctic border with Russia and Russia is trying to take Canadian land and regularly crosses into our waters to steal resources. It is of benefit to Putin for Canada to be weak and distracted by Trump, since Trump works for Putin, it’s very clear why he’s doing this

I just don’t understand how he got caught on this thought? I’m no foreign policy wonk, but I just don’t get it. Why would you want to start random beef with the neighbor. It’s like a weird parody that I don’t know enough about to understand.

    Is he just Putining?

Some believe it’s a distraction. A Flood the Zone tactic.

I hope for everyone’s sake- this is true. If Trump wants to destroy America, so be it. One could argue we deserve it. But this doesn’t need to involve Canada in any capacity.

What I read in the article was this. There is going to be a war between the US and Canada. Trump didn’t say that, Trudeau said it.

All I see Trump saying, is that the US does not need items from Canada, if the US is losing money in the process. He also said it would be great if Canada joined the US.

When the President of the United States says this shit, is it okay now to say - as a Canadian - that I wonder why more Americans aren’t trying to kill him yet? Like, what the hell is going on? HE IS GOING TO GET US ALL KILLED.

My pet conspiracy theory is that there’s already been multiple attempts since Butler, but they aren’t being publicized because they don’t want to encourage others.

i agree. it’s probably starting to get a bit hotter now that all those teslas are burning up. maybe they’ll just start arresting protesters. Oh, they deport them now? Oh, they’re terrorists now?

do americans even know what the words “terrorist” or “patriot” or “democracy” even mean any more?

We need to guarantee payment to whoever steps up, and make sure that their family is looked after for life.

The Luigi who saves us all will be hailed as a hero around the world for decades. World leaders would congratulate them for preventing countless needless deaths, and future dictators won’t fuck around for very long before finding out.

sorry for the 4-day delay. teslas are now ablaze in america. i love the way this is all moving. we won’t be stopped. look at the numbers. what will it take to convince their foot soldiers that they’re being fucked, too? in that - ironically - i have faith in Elon Musk.

I think it’s just because people still have hope that the systems will work as usual and right the ship. I think a lot of people are waiting to see what happens with this administration’s reaction to court orders, etc. But I think that we’re going to start spawning radicalized reactionaries soon.

i like your reply. i’ll take it a step further. i grew up in the US south of the M-D line. What follows are just my personal thoughts:

Americans are busy, and most of them are far too busy to spend the kind of time that i get to spend online reading and learning about this stuff. a lot of Americans (and people in general) don’t like school and didn’t do well in school. and teachers don’t get to do what they want to do. it’s all so fucking frustrating. why does America kill its education budget for the sake of advertising the military during football games?

oh, and by the way, you need to rename that to something like “Americaball” or something. Someone truth Trump.

anyways, people are by and far too busy to care about anything more than soundbites now, and he’s the bullshitter in chief. when you have a couple of kids and work 12 hours every day just to keep the collectors away for a while, what time do you have for protests?

i guess it would be tenable if we still lived in communities, but now we’re all too smart to go to church… and this is a whole new thought, but we need to all start going to church. they’re pumping out little evangies, so we should subvert the church. make church god again!
