Do you think pointing out that Biden is literally part of the Silent Generation makes someone a conservative?

Yes. When there was no mention of politics at all in the conversation and then you go, “Biden also old af.”

I played on my Steam Deck while my SO watched some drama last night, and we ended the evening w/ my SO bawling into my shoulder about something emotional that happened, which I had no context for but still gave some emotional support for.

Seems pretty Millenial to me as well. 😀

I’m kind of on the border between Gen Z and a millennial (1994) so I enjoy brainrot content but going out to go axe throwing or going to an escape room and having some drinks sounds amazing too. I wish I had friends to do that with :(

I was thinking the same thing lol.

Me and a couple buddies got motorcycles over the past year. We’re literally going to go for a ride tomorrow, then meet at the local axe throwing range. I’ve been looking forward to it all week!

Key point here: Millennials still make an effort to hang out, outside of the internet. Hoo boy that birth rate is really going to plummet. Lets see how well the capitalist’s infinite growth system works when the next 3 generations are smaller then each other. How does retirement work for the proles?

If you think capitalism is bad wait until you see what’s coming next: neofeudalism

Extremely wealthy few who control everything. No more payment, you’ll simply be a serf. No more owning, you won’t own anything, all in your life will be leased.

In that world, you have kids because your told to, or else. Individual freedom? What are you a lord? A feudal master?

I doubt anyone will have to be told to have kids. Putting people in misery will leave them grasping at anything to have a moment’s respite of pleasure. Right now they can do that with hobbies and ‘toys.’ In the future? Only the embrace of your fellow miserable hopefully-only-half-kin will be an option, and kids will start popping out.

That’s ok. At this point trump’ll tank it all first, saving us the reich wing tax incentives to bang out kids and talibangelicals preventing women from obtaining jobs or higher education so they can stay barefoot and pregnant kn the kitchen.

I don’t drink because I don’t wanna, and I don’t leave the house often because everything is too expensive. Home is nice and I have everything I need here. I’m basically a mid-40s zoomer I guess.

The first step to not doing that is to stop doing that.

You can DM me and we can be buddies. There’s a lot of social groups or clubs you can join to make some friends- I know that advice is tired, but it really works.

Do you have some hobbies? I’ll help you find a community or three. Don’t have any hobbies? Let me know what you like and we’ll find you some fun ones.

I know this is ironic on social media, but unplugging really helps me relax. Just no social media for a month. When I get antsy about it I do mindfulness exercises.

This one is just a personal recommendation though: I don’t like to drink when I’m down. It’s like keeping your head underwater while you’re drowning. I know it can be a release, but I was able to find other releases and I think avoiding alcohol when I’m down has gone a long way to making me happier.

This is all good advice, but even if you don’t follow it at least part of the issue isn’t that you’re alone, but what you’re doing while you’re alone…

Like. Years ago I decided to build a nine foot tall statue in the living room of my one bedroom apartment. It took me months, and it’s actually terrifying, but it also interests people. Like. No one responds to “I have an eight and a half foot tall statue in my living room” with “okay”.

Having hobbies isn’t just a way to meet people, it’s a way to learn new skills, grow as a person, and have something you can look back on and say “I did that”.

If you spent all your time alone building or making things you’d probably feel a lot better about the time you spent alone, and doubtlessly people would pick up on that

And before you say, “but hobbies are expensive,” I bet there are a lot of things you’re interested in that are cheaper than alcohol. You just need to find those things and start them.

Yeah. I was broke af when I made my statue. It’s mostly… I guess technically mortar. Cement and sand and burlap and chicken wire. Cement is not expensive.

And the best thing about hobbies is you can be creative. You can go dumpster diving to get “found materials” to make a statue, or go to the thrift store, or maybe the local wrecking yard. There are a ton of options for cheap stuff that can be attached together to make something interesting.

I’ve found some really, really weird art besides the dumpster behind my building, and the steady stream of old electronics has really helped in learning how to solder.

You don’t even need to open up a dumpster honestly.

Being old millennial is weird too, most millennials think I grew up in the 50s compared to their life experience. The generation gap between me and my dad is what kind of manual car with a carburetor and hand crank windows we consider ‘‘new’’ looking. But I entered the job market at EXACTLY housing bubble burst. And I was worried I’d get drafted for Iraq, but, alas it thankfully didn’t happen.

As you get older you will eventually be considered both. For example people who grew up believing they were gen X might technically be labeled millennial nows. Like there are millennials who are in their 40s
