I kinda assumed they already killed him, and that was why they didn’t bring him back
Cautionary tales are for people who read or at least learn.
It has no teeth, from my reading. Link
The court’s order left open questions about how or when the government should free Abrego Garcia or whether he should be returned to the U.S. The justices remanded for clarification on what actions the government must take to correct its error, but the Supreme Court suggested that the lower court might have exceeded its authority by ordering his return to the U.S. on a short deadline.
“The district court should clarify its directive, with due regard for the deference owed to the executive branch in the conduct of foreign affairs,” the court wrote in its statement. “For its part, the government should be prepared to share what it can concerning the steps it has taken and the prospect of further steps.”

But the Trump administration also framed the decision as a win for its position.
“As the Supreme Court correctly recognized, it is the exclusive prerogative of the president to conduct foreign affairs,” a Department of Justice spokesperson said. “By directly noting the deference owed to the executive branch, this ruling once again illustrates that activist judges do not have the jurisdiction to seize control of the president’s authority to conduct foreign policy.”
All emphasis mine.
And when he doesn’t free him? What is anyone gonna do about it? Nothing? Oh yeah…
I was really convinced they’d draw this out for months if not years. And I also expected a 5-4 in favour of Trump, because the court is obviously corrupt.
Really surprised that the ruling came so fast and with 9-0 against Trump.
I guess the US isn’t totally fucked yet. SCOTUS still wants to hang on to a thread of dignity.
I think they are scared to become irrelevant and lose their protections. Once Trump has fully turned dictator, they will be irrelevant, so i guess they are just trying to work in their own best interest as usual.
What do you think is a fair amount to sue the country that arrested you and deported you to a foreign country so they didn’t have to follow the rules of our own soil?
I’d really prefer to see the perpetrators get jail time.
Any money this guy gets will just be taxpayer dollars and won’t deter it from happening again.
Depends on how large it is. If it’s 15 billion tax payers would be pissed to have to pay out 300 of those, and start getting upset at the billionaires ordering it.
