It blows my mind that no one has managed to create a decent alternative for buying/selling used stuff locally. So many people I know hate Meta… but still use Facebook Marketplace.
Our local newspaper’s website has a classifieds section that’s well utilized.
Something on the same scale as Craigslist but more modern is lacking. But anything big and centralized like that will eventually go to shit. So maybe smaller regional sites should be the way to go.
What needs to be more modern about Craigslist? I appreciate that it gives you exactly what’s necessary to sell your old shit, and nothing more
Kijiji in Canada is just fine.
The problem isnt a technical issue, its a social problem Short of bringing your stuff to a physical local swap meet, there will always be issues in coordinating some meet up time. There will always be something with low balls, i know what i got mentality, scammers.
There is a reason why second hand shops and thrift shops are still in business.
Every single person I know who’s still on Facebook uses it because of Marketplace. It’s like using Stormfront for the recipes.
