The US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit on Thursday held that a Massachusetts law banning the sale, transfer, or possession of an assault weapon is not unconstitutional under the Second Amendment to the US Constitution. This decision comes after Massachusetts resident, Joseph Capen, contended that he was planning on purchasing items covered by the law for purposes of self-defense.

That’s the joke, kind of. ;)

But an assault rifle is real, it’s just not available for the general public. (Unless Arizona, I think? Their laws are a bit different when it comes to full auto.)

The specific definition of these things doesn’t matter at all to me. If you can pump over let’s say 10 bullets into a crowd in seconds, that fucking thing should be hard to get minimum. Probably banned. I don’t know, we can’t study this shit because Republicans are evil.

So, ban shotguns too? You can swnd off way more than 10 projectiles with just one pull of the trigger.

OTOH, if ICE thugs are breaking down your door, it’s exactly what you want. Maybe that’s the scenario you should be more concerned about at this point, don’t you think?

We need this shit because Republicans are evil.

Not exactly. For those who have that concern, I’m not sure any firearm will solve their problem, let alone a more extreme version of one

When you’re already about to be shipped to a concentration camp to die, you have nothing to lose by trying to take some of them with you.

2nd amendment was meant as a checks and balance for exactly the situation that is happening right now.

And it has never and will NEVER be used that way. Wouldn’t work even if people all stood up to try and use it that way

Doesn’t really matter in the sorta short to long term. 3D printing makes building these things at home pretty dang trivial to the point where you’d have to outlaw hardware stores. Cat’s out of the bag and I’m wing to bet it’ll turn into another war on drugs

They banned “assault weapons” not assault rifles.

It includes AR-15s, and most every gun made since 1950.
