      I am not going to make some grand defense of spending more money on weapons here, all I am gonna say is if Australia is going to bother to have a land army, they are going to need HIMARS or something equivalent. Period. That is just how it is. If you don’t want the HIMARS just don’t bother with the land army.

        The 1500 kilometers of desert works pretty good as far as defense… As do the multiple island chains, being on the other side of the world, and the nearest aggressor being China.

        Those HIMARS will retire without ever having been used in a battle.

          Yes that’s exactly why we are concerned.

          Also nearly all our population lives in 4 cities on the coast. We could have 10x the desert, wouldn’t mean shit for defense.

            Yeah it’s a super dense population. Hadn’t thought of that. The desert wouldn’t matter much after taking out the cities.
