What i do is run my hot water tank when rates are favorable (evenings and weekends). I live alone so I’m easily able to micromanage when hot water is needed.

I’m not on solar yet, i want to but I’d need a long time to make it worthwhile vs my current bills and I have bigger priorities to throw money at for now.

Maybe in a solar scenario you could not power the hot water tank at all unless being charged by solar, letting it use more energy throughout the evening and able to take more energy during the day while solar is producing vs having it be topped up by the grid after use in the evenings.

Yea this could be prevented by having adequate glass protection on the panels in areas where the risk of hail is worth that investment.

Its not like traditional power generation fares any better in extreme weather. The renewables were what survived the ice storm outage in Texas while oil and gas plants went down.

Canada also has a lot of hydro power. In theory we could use excess solar from the day to pump water up into the reservoir to be used for hydro generation at night or during peak use. It may not be the most energy effecient, but it could be effective at scale and cheap enough to implement before building and investing in physical batteries. I may be wrong but i think there are some places that already do this.

You can’t get a refund for something you didn’t pay for directly. If this administration actually cared they could have given a tax rebate back directly to the consumers since we know the vast majority of importers passed the cost along to consumers.

You can’t present just a groccery bill, you’d have to prove which items were impacted by the tarrif and by how much.

Technically speaking you didnt pay the tarrif, you paid the inflated price due to tariffs. The compnay/person paying for the import paid the tarrif.

Its like when you buy a coconut at the store. You didn’t technically pay for the shipping of it, but that cost was reflected in the price.

Its gargled mish mash, but its some relevant points that their base will remember some details, like global warming was a term phased out, and since they remember that, clearly everything donny said is a fact. The best lies and manipulatation have a sprinkling of truth.

The worst part is he is almost right.

We couldn’t call it global warming cause the extreme weather made people ignore average trend of increasing temperatures. (The classic global warming isn’t real cause we got snow in april once)

We are cooling as a planet, or at least we are supposed to be following centuries of trends. We’ve impacted the cycle that badly that we are warming when we should be cooling.

We started used climate change because its a more inclusive and effective description. Extreme weather events, including cold fronts, happen more intensely and frequently, local areas are experiencing their climate changing. Even a bunch of the old die hard conservatives in my area are agreeing the weather patterns are shifting and changing, getting more unpredictable and intense yet deny climate change being a factor in that. Its god angry we aren’t burning more oil and deporting more immigrants

I’ve even had people blame other governments for things a conservative government did.

Many of the things people like about Canada versus the USA is Canada’s more socialist policies like health care and more safety nets. We just can’t call it socialism cause the boomers who love those services are still afraid of that word.

A lot of the people who “don’t like ford” still vote conservative to own the libs or something. I’ve met many who hate ford but still support the party.

That shoulder point seems like a moot point IMO. If I’m drunk in my car, i still can’t drive on the shoulder. It is also common for people on off road vehicles like atvs and snow mobiles to get DUIs. This 100% sounds like a small town grace thing.
