Ask UK@feddit.uk•Has anyone EVER gotten a tyre repair kit to work?
1·3 months agoLooks like the kind of plugs you get for tubeless tyres on bikes, which I guess makes sense on account of how care tyres also are tubeless.

Ask UK@feddit.uk•Has anyone EVER gotten a tyre repair kit to work?
2·3 months agoI’ve had a puncture a grand total of once, and to remedy it I used a repair kit. It worked without any issues. I even had a mechanic inspect the tyre after and he said it was completely fine to drive on it after because of how well sealed the puncture got, which is to be fair not the recommendation from the kit manufacturers, but as I understand, the tyre held up fine for a long time after that. This was not my car, I don’t own one and I drive quite rarely

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•China's CATL turns to powering electric ships, tapping EV battery know-how
3·4 months agoYou jest, but China produces everything on the quality spectrum, from garbage to great stuff. Also, the cheap trash from Temu or Shein is going to be taking a flight

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•China's CATL turns to powering electric ships, tapping EV battery know-how
41·4 months agoThat’s mostly a matter of regulation though - there’s no necessity for this type of fuel to be used in shipping, other types of combustion fuel would work fine, but this type of fuel just so happens to be really cheap because no one else wants it.
We could ban it, and shipping would still be basically completely fine.
That being said, we should still aim for electrification, but electrification is not a prerequisite to phase out HFO
It doesnt stay open, its in the way, and it doesnt even prevent you from just ripping it off and throwing away the lid.
Just fold it back until it hits the point where it locks?
Jesus Christ, what a weak take this is.

Bicycling@lemmy.world•The UCI rule changes for 2026 you need to know aboutEnglish
1·4 months agowas only paused because it hurts SRAM’s bottom line.
Wasn’t it paused due to the Belgian court decision in the matter?
The minimum bar width is terrible for smaller riders, but it’s fine because no corporation is hurt
Wasn’t this restriction relaxed to the point of not being that harmful to smaller riders? The initial rule was definitely overboard, but the updated numbers seemed like they could be pretty reasonable.
A rule which relates the number to the physiology of the rider would probably be a better call, though.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I finally replaced my craptacular old kitchen faucet
2·4 months agoI see! My last double sink was something like 1/4-3/4 in dimensions between the sub-sinks, giving me no issues with washing the larger items. My current one is too small for comfort, really, but I just can’t justify replacing it while it’s functioning fine.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I finally replaced my craptacular old kitchen faucet
4·4 months agoWhat’s wrong with dual sinks? I miss mine a lot, when I moved to my current apartment we got a single instead, and it’s quite limiting as far as washing dishes goes.

As a general rule for AliExpress, if something is priced too low, it’s going to be garbage.
I’ve relied on Reddit thread advice in the past for getting decently reputable Chinese brands, which has worked well when buying various things (cycling gear, kitchen scale, mini-PC).
