1·5 days agoMost northern communities have a concentration of people and then it’s a long way to go to get to the next community. So, there’s a bunch of short drives and the occasional long drive.

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•BYD Song Ultra EV shakes up the industry with 5-minute fast charging, 22k USD
164·6 days agoI’d really love to see how one of these does here in Northern Canada. There are almost no electric vehicles here because of the performance of batteries in the long, cold winter.

We play speed Uno. If you have the identical card as the card that’s played, you can lay it down if you get it to the pile before the person whose turn it is lays down theirs. Play then continues from you.

News@lemmy.world•Amsterdam bans public adverts for meat and fossil fuels
76·12 days agoMany companies like websites, tv, radio, etc. depend on the revenues from advertisers to pay their workers and expenses. If they didn’t have that, everything would likely turn to susbscription or a regular pleading for money so they could continue.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Those in countries with universal healthcare, what's it like?
5·13 days agoCanada. You don’t pay for a broken arm or a checkup. You only pay for things like physiotherapy or massage. Dentisit is covered if you’re old, young, or not making much money. Pharmacy is covered (with a small fee) if you’re old. The emergency room works on a triage system so, if you’re not seriously sick, you’ll probably wait a long time. There are long wait times for specialists in some areas. I can’t speak for everyone, but the care my extended family and I have received has been excellent.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something cozy you like to watch, listen to, or do to relax?
8·15 days agoCharles Schultz once said, “There are three things that people like to just sit and watch: softly falling snow, an open fire, and a Zamboni driving around a rink.”
Nice. They’re pretty skittish around here. Hard to get a good picture.
This feels like an ad.
