No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Avocado. Is it really so untasty or I am doing something wrong?
2·3 days agoI don’t eat avocado like fruit, I eat it like a vegetable. So cut it up with onion and peppers and dress with lemon, oil and salt and pepper. Or mash on toast & top with goat cheese.
The only way i have ever had it sweet is avocado ice cream, and that involves a lot of sugar. It’s not sweet at all on its own.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How many times a year do you wash your jeans?
2·3 days agoJeans & shirts & pants I hang up and don’t wash often. I have lots of them, so not sure of the interval but maybe 10 - 15 wears? Underwear and workout clothes I wear once and wash.
Office job, I do bike in but not far. Merino wool t shirts or loose shirts for work.
Of course if I spill something on them I wash them.

Streetwear@lemmy.world•What's stopping you from dressing like this???
6·4 days agoWhat is going on at the crotch here? It looks like she has a designer codpiece. Love the hair color/lipstick combo.

1·5 days agoI suck at memorization and am better at figuring things out. The quadratic equation, I memorized and liked it because I could use it, just that one, to figure out the whole year of math, without memorizing anything else.
And yeah everything is slower that way, than memorizing - I have just always been constitutionally unable to do anything I don’t understand. Even now, at work, I don’t settle on a process I can hand off to anyone else until I do the task for like a year, a bunch of different ways.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•what is the most violent, reprehensible, sociopathic way to tie your shoes?
8·6 days agoRemoving the laces from the shoes of the person next to you, and using them for your shoes?
Tying them to the shoes of the person next to you?
Who knows? I can only say that they universally sucked. I pedal away on this cruiser E-bike though, it is a ridiculously pleasant ride, and fun. I use it daily, and not to be virtuous in any way. Because it’s easier than taking the car in some ways, and not as slow as walking. Great big basket holds 2 big grocery bags.
I work in participation sports, and agree with OP. I’ve seen people running in a long distance triathlon (which means they’ve already swum and biked a long distance) who, if I saw them in a different context, I’d not have thought them fit. Usually women, not men. Fat and cardiovascularly fit >skinny and idle. And I’ve seen really strong fat guys, maybe that’s not as perfect as lean & strong but is it worse than thin and weak?
It’s not the usual arrangement (fit and fat) but skinny and unfit is pretty common.
I don’t make fitness assumptions anymore, about people within some range, obviously there is a point where this isn’t true. I haven’t ever been fat and do not think I’d be one of those people (if I am in shape it shows in my visual shape) but plump fit people do exist.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What band/artist have you seen live more than once, would gladly go see again, and what keeps you coming back?
2·8 days agoLive music is performance art. I will take the experience over just listening to a recording anytime I can, and that is where my music budget has always gone.
I don’t like big arena shows at all though. With you on that. Bars and small venues, and once a year a festival but not a big one. I want to see the performance not a jumbotron.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a belief you’ve done a total 180 on?
15·8 days agoThe Bicycle. My God I how hated to ride a bike. So freaking uncomfortable to sit on, hurts my lady parts and sweaty and you have to pedal so hard to make it move, I always would rather walk. Just walk like we are made to do.
I rode an electric bike at a ‘rodeo’ the city sponsored to promote their e-bike raffle and oh wow what fun, so comfortable the seat, so easy to pedal and it moves right along. I did not win a voucher but spent the money on one and I love it, it’s my daily commuter vehicle, and I let people ride it and so many have the same transformation.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the arguments *against* ending Daylight Savings Time in the USA?
3·8 days agoAgreed. I am so glad my kids are grown, but I can still remember personally walking to school so early. It’s nonsense. Also here if they were sensible they’d run school through the summer (when it’s too hot to do much) and give the kids long winter and spring breaks instead (when there is more going on here). But nobody can accuse the last 20 years of Florida’s government of being sensible. Not since Lawton Chiles have we had an actual good governor. Locally it’s more hit & miss but state level it’s been a string of misses.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the arguments *against* ending Daylight Savings Time in the USA?
9·9 days agoYeah but it’s dark in the morning anyway. Elementary school here starts at like 7am, that is a bigger problem than the DST. I thought they hated it because they switched it back in January? If it just never changed I’m sure it would not feel so shocking.
Already we do 8 months of DST and only 4 of EST here.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's going to happen to gas stations as cars electrify?
16·9 days agoThe WaWa gas station near me has more charging stations than gas pumps, and they are always full of cars charging.
And of course they sell beer and diet coke a cigarettes, coffee, snacks. The gas is just to get people in the door, and charging takes longer, I’m sure they’ll be fine.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your most important meal of the day? Bonus points, what's your most consistently cooked/eaten meal?
2·9 days agoLunch most important nutritionally, supper most important socially. I always cook supper at home for the family, but try to get more of my calories earlier in the day as that feels best.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What band/artist have you seen live more than once, would gladly go see again, and what keeps you coming back?
2·9 days agoWe saw J Roddy Walston and the Business every time they came through, such a powerful live act and nice guys.
We have seen Bleachers a lot, Antonoff can’t dance to save his life but 2 drummers and always a good time.
Leon Bridges every time he has played here. Amazing, great show.
When I was a teenager I was driving to LA across I -10 at the same time the Descendants were on their tour so I saw them here, then in New Orleans, then in California.
If I like an artist I will go to their show, live music is one of the best things in the world.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What band/artist have you seen live more than once, would gladly go see again, and what keeps you coming back?
3·9 days agoThat’s funny, I saw REM exactly once and that was one too many times. Way back when they were getting started. One of the worst shows I have ever seen.

6·9 days agoBut they changed it suddenly in January, instead of just not changing back in the fall. That was dumb.
