Sometimes a sequel isn’t needed, even a cliffhanger or ambiguous ending is fine.

There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy. Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they’ve already enlisted in the cause. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.

Is this one of those things Lucas had put in the script but someone wiser changed and didn’t tell him?
One of my favorite Red Letter Media quotes referring to the opening of Star Wars:
“We know everything we need to know just by the visuals. Rebels. Empire. We got a sense of how small and ill-equipped the rebels are and how large and powerful the Empire is. The low angle implies dominance, and the length of the Star Destroyer implies the Long Reach of the Empire. This shot says everything we need to know without saying one word. In fact, this is so genius, I have a feeling that George Lucas had nothing to do with it and probably fought against putting it in the movie.”

Noem repeatedly suggested the president was aware of the campaign and signed off on it.
Oh, that makes sense. Fired for a petty reason by the hurt snowflake in charge.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•why hard exit editor? Nano say at bottom.
5·1 day agoI love how people fight over what’s the better editor. I just use whatever makes sense for the time, and it’s not always the same one. But if you’re happy with just one of them and can make it work for you in any situation, then you do you. That’s the point of Linux, or so I thought.
I don’t see how it implies that, as that empire or any others never stopped and said, “yep, that’s good enough”.
He personally actually wants the old Russian Empire back.
My canon belief is that Leia had a sense there was a connection to Luke (that she references to “always knowing”, which can mean a lot more than just about Luke) after she heard his calling out to her from Cloud CIty. This would be long after both kisses, and both of them were pretty innocent within context anyway.
As for Anakin, he was the most powerful at that point. We see this by the measurements (yeah, I hate that Lucas defined what was meant to be mystical), we see this by the later results in him matching up with other more experienced Jedi, and we see him as a severely crippled Vader who is still devastating to anyone. Anakin weakness wasn’t his abilities, but his lack of patience and control, thanks to maybe his age if Yoda was right, but the lack of the Council aiding what training could be done, and also fueling his fears and anger later.
Luke could be more powerful. We never see his peak level except in cases like in The Mandalorian. That Luke is Anakin-level but with control of his actions.

United Kingdom@feddit.uk•Pornography depicting sexual relationships between step-relatives set to be banned
5·3 days agoThere’s sex with some level of plot, and there’s plot with some level of sex. It depends on which goal is greater for that movie or book. There is also a variety of degrees of porn plot, from bad to decent (with still the goal of being porn, but far more believable).
Are not-step-siblings still okay? Short of being admitted in the script, how does one know the relations? I guess the same validation as when the actress says she’s 18, right?
It’s billions all the way down. Untouchable and unusable for us commons.
Are you talking about the billions in military spending unaccounted for that were starting to make news a few days before, and no one heard about after? Or a different billions? Either one could be a right answer.
False. The Bush Admin wasn’t competent enough to plan a self-attack. They just managed to jump on a crisis (caused by their own ineptness) and use it to their benefit. And everyone went along with it for fear of being called a traitor.
Doesn’t change the point. This Admin is far dumber and more evil because of what they’ve been doing, and the latest is just more of that.
