Aussie Enviro@aussie.zone•Governments announce full details of $102.5m algal bloom summer plan
2·2 months ago“Governments announce full details of $102.5m algal bloom”
i thought they were creating an algal bloom, reading that title.
reading the article, there seems to be some unusual concepts like “AI powered submersible cytobots”, “clay and gyroid absorbent sponge technology” as well as some odd policies like a tourism package and life saving patrols inspecting the water.
lot of focus about new things, with no mention of reducing pollution and climate change. is that not an option? is it just not mentioned?
are these new measures better than reducing pollution and climate change, or is it just politics like “carbon capture and storage”?

3·2 months agowhat’s with this anti protest stuff lately? why aren’t there rallies held to protest about that? seems like a very pressing issue.
in brisbane not long ago, there was a protest planned at a bridge. police went to court over it, the protestors lost and were banned from the bridge. But the protest went ahead anyway by a last minute route change to a different bridge

2·2 months agoACU registered nearly 6,000 cases of alleged academic misconduct across its nine campuses in 2024, according to internal documents seen by the ABC. About 90 per cent of those referrals related to AI use.
In a statement, deputy vice-chancellor Tania Broadley told the ABC those figures were “substantially overstated”.>
90%, that’s a pretty big number!

Melbourne@aussie.zone•Is a full fare myki still a valid ticket if you are obviously eligible for a concession or special myki?
2·2 months agoit sucks that concession use is targeted heavily by ticketos. i don’t think its like this in any other state and territory. wish the vic government would do a royal commission on ticket inspectors.
everyone is eligible for full adult fare> that’s good to hear
