  • I disagree. With treason you’ve gotta go for the kill for a few reasons. Firstly there’s the obvious violent prison break followed by an armed coup. Second it splinters their followers; without a strong leader the group is far more likely to turn on itself. Thirdly it reinforces the idea that coup’s are the most dangerous move you can make and no matter who you are there’s an absolute and final punishment.

Look where the US is now after not killing the traitors. Normally I’m staunchly against the death penalty but in instances like this it’s truly for the greater good.

  • I live in the Seattle area and while this stuff isn’t free it’s under $10 to park and ride both ways. Trains run every 7 minutes and the train will take you maybe five minutes extra if there’s no traffic. If you’re coming or going from the stadiums it’s faster and cheaper than driving to one of the lots close to them. Trains are pretty clean too, it’s a pretty great rail line

  • Yet here we are, with some people believing vaccines cause autism and the far right extremists to boot. I personally would’ve taken more idiots harming themselves with their new age junk than what we got.

Don’t misunderstand, I agree it absolutely wouldn’t have been a catch all and even in its time it lacked the teeth to do much but at least it was something. It combined with a stronger education system could’ve prevented a lot of what we’re dealing with now.

  • As an American this is very close to my take. This leadership is weak, they’ve divided the country in a way in which it will likely never recover from. Global opinions of the US are in the dumpster and it would take decades of goodwill to even begin to shift opinions that the USA is actually “good” again.

The sad reality is this country will never recover to being what it was. I honestly feel like we’d be better off just saying “fuck off, do your own thing then” to the southern portion of the states, but then you’d likely have a nuclear armed failed state within a couple of decades and the evangelicals among them would probably welcome a nuclear Holocaust because they believe they’ll be raptured away.

  • It’s not a silver bullet, but it was a very useful way to ensure people didn’t become radicalized by just listening to one side lie constantly. There’s a reason why Reagan and Nixon wanted it gone, and we’re living through the repercussions of not having it now; radicalized far right extremists everywhere and in control of the government. Also, we could have made updates to expand it or introduce new legislation to curb extremism on other platforms.

Definitely far from perfect but better than our current reality.
