Security on android ereaders is definitely disappointing. My Boox palma 2 only supports pins, not passwords. And unfortunately I don’t think a pure eink would work for me. The xteink has me curious if you could make firmware to “leech” off grapheneOS’ security by doing something like an SMB share to avoid having potentially pirated books unencrypted.

What I’d personally love to see is an X4 sized device with NFC, wireless charging, and Lora for meshtastic.

Worth noting that when we hit these temperatures the humidity is usually 5% so we may have a record headline but I’ll honestly take this over hot and humid any day.

We still need to fill edge cases. Hiking is really big where I live but you can’t take public transit to more than one or two trailheads, and certainly not some of the more remote ones.

I desperately want a nonprofit carshare in my area to fill the gap for this as well as occasional things like moving lots of stuff. Without a cost effective way to get a car when you really need one, people will own a car for edge cases. And when you have a car sitting there… you’ll drive it even when you don’t need to.

Recently lent a family member an old phone and took a chance by leaving GrapheneOS on it. Of course they reinstalled all the google apps but it’s cool to see they can still get some benefit without major issues.

If anyone wants an interesting project I’ve been thinking you could use all those DOT cameras to generate rough traffic data without a bunch of location data. But it’d definitely be tricky to differentiate traffic from cars stopped at a light as well as dealing with when cameras are pivoted.

I had three and when I bought a new one I figured why not use them all? Turns out 3 is the sweetspot for me. The fourth also ruined my tie fighter layout.

More citizen everything. I’m currently trying to figure out how to get more people in my area editing openstreetmap. It’s such a hopeful project but after years of editing like mad I’m starting to lose hope for quick progress. It’s awesome that everyone can work on whatever they want but I think we may need community and comradarie based goals for progress.

I have a degree from UVU (where Kirk was shot.) There’s a massive pedestrian bridge over the freeway right next to campus and I keep wondering how much trouble I’d get in for putting up a sign reading “send us more conservative pundits.”

Fucking hate the creep glasses because I’d love small glasses that simulate a multi-monitor setup. But 6 DOF needs cameras and I can’t imagine feeling comfortable being mistaken for one of these fucks for even a second. And in a public space you’re sure to eventually look like you’re recording someone if you get locked in on one of three monitors without knowing you’re looking at them.

My apartment has a nice gas range that I put an induction cooktop on since I prefer it.
