Technology@lemmy.world•People Would Rather Have Nuclear Power Plants In Their Area Than AI Data CentersEnglish
32·1 day agoLet’s be honest, with AI you’ll get both right next to you competing for the use of water.
And you know when the Nuclear plant needs the water to prevent a meltdown, you know who will get the water.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•"If I can't win an argument, I must change my mind." Do you agree with this view?
7·2 days agoThat’s kind of stupid stance to have.
I mean I can get into a argument of ideas with a MAGA idiot about how you shouldn’t support the current Epstien File POTUS and present all kinds of evidence about how the current president is an idiot, that he has ballooned the deficit more than any modern president for no rhyme or reason, that his immigration policy and tariff policy are complete and utter failures that extremely hurt the American economy and families and the MAGA idiot would steadfastly refuse to acknowledge facts, crap all over the table and declare victory.
I certainly didn’t win the argument and I certainly shouldn’t be supporting the “I can identify a Squirrel” in Chief because I couldn’t convince a cult member they’re a moronic cult member.

352·3 days agoWow, that was quick to have vibe “coders” not understanding how a operating system works.
This is their last chance to hold on to their racist ways as America’s population is going through it’s transition from a white majority to a white minority society.
While it remains to be seen how this plays out, if it swings the other way, they better pray to their supply side Jesus minorities are going to not inflict unto them what they did to us.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•How often do you upgrade your PC?English
5·6 days agoI usually go around 7 to 10 years before building a new machine with usually one GPU upgrade in-between.
I’ll keep the computer going until the frame rate on a modern game hits less than 40 on a game I actually want to play which may be longer now since I’m not exactly clamoring to play the next AAA game.

News@lemmy.world•Supreme court’s Voting Rights Act ruling cited misleading data from DoJ
9·7 days agoThis is the court that cited a 17th century bullshit about quickening like they were sucking Medieval Highlander dick for justification on Dobbs, and then in the same breath refused to also acknowledge that terminating pregnancy before Highlander There Can Be Only One, was common and accepted practice.
These Conservative political activist judges don’t care about being consistent or data while they’re passing their conservative agenda from the bench.

News@lemmy.world•More Americans say US is no longer welcoming to immigrants, survey finds
1·9 days agoAs a 40+ year old first generation American I can say my personal experience is that by and large it has not been exactly welcoming to immigrants for decades.
I once believed that it was getting better but Americans then let me know that once again I was and still not exactly welcome.

51·10 days agoSame but you would have had to have known that there was backlash.
I personally think that these types of headlines are fine. Yes the headline is provocative with the wording but honestly they have to be a bit because if they don’t then they don’t get anyone to view their story. No views, no money and the whole cow, milk, and giving it away for free comes into play.
Click the damn link and give the journalist a some ad revenue because these guys also need to earn a living while most of us commenting, at least in this side of the world, we’re also making a living while having the luxury to read gaming news during work hours too and honestly, I don’t see anyone that’s complaining about the headline stepping up to the plate and providing any of their own original content and descriptive headlines that give you the whole story.

7·10 days agoNone of this matters because at the end of the day the American electorate is just too stupid for any of this to count for anything.
They’re always going to vote for the next hard R that will promise them that they’ll make it all White and now you’ll probably won’t have a choice but to vote for the hard R in many states going forward.
