To be fair. People probally know the basic concept. But they want information on the best ways, unexpected options for tubes, tips and tricks, how to break into locked gas covers quickly, etc. etc.

It’s 2026. And it’s normal to learn about things online in many parts of the world. And people have grown up knowing they can extend, expand and enhance their knowledge of things casually by looking it up.

I know it’s about gravity and getting it flowing, etc. I learned about it in grade school. But I would still look it up if i was faced with having to do it and had access to the internet.

The ratchet only goes back so far.

It was unsustainable without a lot of forethought and planning.

There is too much centralization in the chain. Decades ago there were lots of memory manufacturers. But as the markets matured, and the work became more sophisticated, and big swings happened in the markets, consolidation happened. And many manufacturers just went away.

The days of steam having wild deals on newer stuff are over. IMO. It’s all more measured and regimented now. The sales are part of the whole business plan these days, and likely planned out from the start.

I’m sure there are exceptions, but I don’t get the impression that sales are as exciting these days. Everything has adapted to consumers expecting sales.
