OK, but literally why would you do that? Genuinely baffled. Like, is this someone that doesn’t read trying to convince others (or themselves?) that they’re avid readers or something?

Has no one sat Tim down and explained to him how much free marketing he gives Steam?

Is there any reason to think separate steaming boxes behave better?

I would very much like to filter developers by affiliation and not give fascists money, actually. Thanks for the idea, good guy, Tim Sweeney.

I don’t know who in the DCCC needs to hear this, but learning a Republican supports a Democratic candidate makes me support them less, not more.
You’d think Harris trotting out Liz Cheney and losing would get the message across, but magically donor money makes that lesson go poof.

Fire in the Sky. Way too young for the honey scene.

Letterboxd, and to an extent Goodreads.
I just spent a solid chunk of time importing and correcting various accounts to NeoDB and Bookwyrm and they are both petty frustrating to use, especially with how much content is missing, mislabeled, or duplicated. Plus, they don’t seem to federate with each other (understandable, in so far as very few parts of the Fediverse actually federate well together [unlike, perhaps, Mastodon and mbin]) or even support exporting/importing data from each other.

Don’t volunteer to kill and die for a county that actively, openly hates you.

Because then I’d never finish my masterpiece. /hj But more seriously, a lot of his stylistic choices are ones I try to not replicate in my own writing. The extremely detailed descriptions of food, clothing, woman’s bodies, etc. I love the story he tells but find the writing itself can be a chore to read sometimes, if that makes sense.

I feel like Linux having a guy is antithetical to Linux but I guess I’m just in the minority.

Genuine question. I’m not a developer, I didn’t study computer science, and I’m a pretty basic Fedora user. But why does everyone harp on Linus Torvald’s opinions like they’re handed down from heaven? Windows still dominates the market, but no one cares what Bill Gates says. I love A Song of Ice and Fire but I wouldn’t take writing tips from George R. R. Martin. Richard Stallman’s opinions on GNU/Linux are memed endlessly. Linus is literally just a dude.
I hopped around a bit before landing on .zip, and they definitely strike the right balance. I just want admins to defederate spam. Anything beyond that is curation, which is solely my job.
Oof. Banned from politics for saying trans people should learn gun safety. Banned from piercing for citing the rules to a poster that pictures should be zoomed in on the piercing and not a full body selfy for a septum ring. Banned from offmychest despite never having posted there.
Banned from instagramreality because… A friend of mine posted her own very poorly photoshopped boudoir photo (she was the model, not the photographer/editor), which did violate the letter (but not spirit) of the rule on self-posts. She was instantly permabanned. But it was a hilariously bad edit, so I offered to post it since we’re different people with different accounts that post in different region-specific subs and, believe it or not, also banned.
Shout out to the r/anime mods for blacking out their subreddit (yay) and still using the daily episode threads for themselves (boo). Spineless bootlickers. Announcing an end-date for the API protests was one is the most stupid lib-brained things I’ve ever encountered.

What happened to personal responsibility? I don’t want to get wounded in a drone strike either, so I decided not to put on a military uniform and head out to a(n illegal) warzone to distract the world from the cult of child rapists running it.
We need to do a better job teaching our men to be careful what they wear and where they wear it. Because some people in the world see a hostile military bombing them and think it gives them permission to defend themselves.

John Oliver would have a field day.

I just started my Suikoden 1+2 play through. I’m guessing I should skip this for now?

If slop coding is so great why is everyone so adamant about hiding it from users?
If you’re not willing to disclose something, maybe take that as a hint.

Not leaving the internet wholesale, per se, but I’m guessing the majority of people in the Fediverse are functionally trying to roll back to a pre-2020 internet.
That’s certainly why I’m here.
Sometimes I worry that maybe the state doesn’t have our best interests in mind 👉👈
