Just because it’s not forbidden to post US politics somewhere does not mean you have to flood the place with it.

The tyres seem to be holding air too
Next time consider an orderly queue and a “please deposit DNA sample here” sign. Just in case the birth control acts up.
Hey, if you’re lucky maybe they will name whatever you have after you.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is everyone doing to survive this food inflation?
6·4 days agoOccasionally you have to throw food that is spoiled. Not buying it in the first place is better. I’m very good at this, my gf is not. She eats half a corn cob, puts the rest in the fridge and two weeks later i have to throw it out after I find it grazing on the lettuce.
Most meat you can buy in bulk and split into smaller packages freeze If you have the freezer space. Vegetables are usually not cheaper in bulk here outside the occasional buy two for $X deal and they don’t survive the freezer as a rule.
You can tinker with what you eat. But it’s harder to do.
If you can stop eating candy and soft drinks that is probably the first I’d suggest. Zero nutritional value outside the sugar and a non zero cost.
Check what is most protein per $ in your area. Used to be ground beef here, but now it’s frozen chicken filet and the leaner cuts of pork.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Will Piefed ever be ported to Go language instead of Python?
14·5 days agoWhy don’t you do it?
Whatever answer you give is probably a very good reason not to.
Hunt birds with great colour vision with the same clothes. Put on a cheap vest when hunting deer instead of a whole expensive new jacket.
There is also no shortage of people willing to sell you something you think works.
Golfers buy expensive clubs, gamers buy expensive hardware, hunters buy expensive clothes. None of it is guaranteed make you more successful, but I’ll sell you this golf ball polish that is guaranteed to make your slice go 10m further off into the rough for only $5.99
To better break up the contour of the the arm when they lift the beer can.
Hat is usually the first thing you see and they are cheap.
If you hunt e.g. birds with the same clothes they have better colour vision than we do so it would not work.
There is orange camo if you want to invest in color bilnd only hunting gear.
Depends on the deer. Some species have good eyesight. If you live on a big open field that is a very effective way to detect predators.
Breaking up the contour of your human shape is why you have camo when hunting animals with poor colour vision. They can’t tell if you’re a boulder or human but no big gray blob is supposed to move. Grass and branches swaying in the wind are all over the place.
You may also use the same clothes for hunting birds, which usually have very good vision, including color.
If you’re not aspiring to be world class athlete you can do whatever exercise you want and not think to hard about it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it possible to achieve an egalitarian society with a population of millions/billions?
52·6 days agoNoone has succeeded so far. So I’m going with no, not within my lifetime at least.
Maybe I’ll be proven wrong in the future, you may yell “I told you so” at my tombstone should you feel like.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever just felt so bored with life that you wanna die?
9·6 days agoWhat do you do when you feel bored?
On Friday I sat by a lake and ate a hotdog. On Sunday I walked up a hill and looked at a ruin of some sort.
Neither was very stimulating but I was not in a hurry to get home and be more bored. I also got some exercise and sunlight.
In my life I’ve had two times when they went down along with unemployment going up.
The 2008 crash and a local crash due to the biggest employer in town being on the verge of bankruptcy in the 1990s.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How many days of missed sleep do you think you could hide from people?
16·7 days ago0.3.
If I miss 2 hours of sleep I’ll be a zombie a couple off hours after lunch.
Any recession can cause a downward pressure on house prices at the same time as difficulties paying for a mortgage. You may not be able to sell the home for enough to pay off the mortgage when you get into trouble.
No. We should be reasonably prepared for a pandemic. It’s when everyone has forgotten they happen we should start worrying.

Northern Europe:
There is an issue with effort vs cost in the store. The easy stuff is usually really cheap in the store (eg potato). The expensive stuff (eg paprika) usually requires a greenhouse to survive. I’ve tried growing it indoors in the window but they don’t thrive there.
One exception I can think of is strawberries. Reasonably easy, space per plant is low, somewhat expensive in the store.
If you have a tiny yard you can try red/blackcurrants and raspberries.
