    Trump said, absurdly comparing the hostages’ situation to the Holocaust, which murdered six million Jews.

    This line was speculation, he didn’t say anything about the Holocaust explicitly

    suggesting that the Nazis were known for their generosity.

      That’s a pretty fucking stupid take. What other period or event in Germany do you think he might been referring to, where some prisoners may been given “extra help” and extra food? C’mon, let’s hear it, I’m genuinely curious about your rationale here.

        I interpreted as referring to treatment of prisoners of war.

        I also didn’t interpret it as him saying they were know for their generosity- just that people in general anywhere tend to have some amount of empathy.

        Devil’s advocate, he could have been talking about people like Oscar Schindler. I don’t believe he was, and if so he phrased it in the stupidest way possible. I bet that’s how they spin it if he gets a lot of heat over this though.
