to add to this: whiteness is seen as the absence of race. a sort of default state for humanity. I don’t think many people believe this anymore (or, at least, not conscientiously) but that’s what those who created the concept of race thought.

racism was created by those same people to justify colonialism and slavery. humans are a cooperative species, so the human mind evolved to not cause pain to your fellow humans. so colonizers invented race, as a way to dehumanize other people, so they wouldn’t feel that discomfort, and could justify their horrors to themselves, to fellow colonizers, and to the people they were colonizing.

that’s why anti-white racism is not a thing: racism was invented by (those who would call themselves) white people, to oppress everyone else. anti-white racism makes as much sense as anti-men misogyny, or anti-straight homophobia.

This feels like “I can’t be homophobic because I’m not afraid of gay people.” I can’t wait for someone to insist they can’t possibly be racist because their hatred isn’t motivated by pseudoscience.

What about ancient Arab enslavement of black Africans?

You don’t know much about the world outside of the west, do you?

there are other xenophobic means of domination and oppression, but racism is a european invention (that was then spread worldwide through colonialism)
