The original and most basic point of a condom is to stop pregnancy. If it can’t even do that why would you feel confident in its ability to do anything else?

This comment made me lose some brain cells. How can you not stop to think for one second before posting this?

“A car is not guaranteed to get you from A to B, it could break down on the way. So its basically useless”

“A jacket doesnt guarantee protection from rain, why would you think it can keep you warm?”

“A toothbrush doesnt get rid of all the bacteria in your mouth, waste of time”

The moment you realize the world isnt made up of 1 and 0.

The guy I’m replying to said condoms, no ifs, buts, or maybes, would stop an STD.

Now, I can appreciate my comment might not be the best phrased, but I am the problem here? Ok. I’ll be better.

I have read it. I took it to mean that they were suggesting use a condom to prevent STDs.

            Still do to be fair.

Yes, condoms do prevent STDs. Just like hard hats prevent head injuries. Thats a completely legitimate statement and not equivalent to “100% under no circumstance ever can you hurt your head when wearing a hard hat”. If youre crushed by a 10t steel block, your head will be hurt. So would takeaway be “hard hats dont prevent head injuries”?

I don’t think your grasp of statistics and logic is quite there yet.
Because something may fail doesn’t mean it is useless. Because something may happen doesn’t mean it will.

I never called it useless mate, I meant that it doesn’t have a hundred percent success rate for its original use.

Because its better then raw doggin, and pretty much the only option for preventing STDs at all, even if not 100%
