Let’s say I like to “adopt” an inactive Lemmy community representing a city that I have no association with, what are your thoughts if I decide to regularly post the latest news that I find, or interesting articles about it, in a regular basis?

I say communities like that aren’t just for people that live there. It’s a community about that location. As long as the post is about that location, I don’t see why anyone would have an issue.

That makes sense. I’m aware, for example, that the regulars in some country subreddits aren’t really locals, to the point that the locals are outsiders in their own subreddit. However, “outsiders” posting in inactive communities is better than zero activity at all.
