I read all the time about people saying we’re on the cusp of AI/bots taking over, when, we’re already there. People saying America is on the verge of its own collapse when, we’re kinda already here.
That title was certainly some words.
The wordiest words that ever worded.
I mean, it’s certainly befitting the community purpose?
This community has a stupid name. Of course there are stupid questions.
The name “no stupid questions” comes from a phrase that teachers say to encourage discussion. “Remember, there are no stupid questions!”
I think you answered your question in the body of the post. You just say, “we’re/it’s already here”.
We’re already here on the cusp of op answering their own questions in their post.
AI bots clearly haven’t taken over yet and I don’t think they ever will, in a SkyNet sort of meaning. BUT it is important to point out the dangers, agentic or not!
The government of the USA objectively hasn’t collapsed yet. But it could happen any day now. And again, it is important to raise awareness of how dysfunctional it has become.
I can think of many more examples of “bad stuff”, each different.
What they have in common is that people warn about them in terms “we’re on the verge of desaster” because that’s one way to raise awareness of looming danger while at the same time stressing that we can still do something to avoid it.people are idiots who don’t know what they are taking about.
