By young you mean under 50 right? Because some of us are still waiting for ours.
It’s a start. I want to believe they are seeing the issue but I just don’t trust them to not hand wave whilst still bending over for the rich and allowing them to screw us all.

Are you saying you need more living space? A “lebensraum” if you will?
I don’t even know when I last saw a migrant and yet you think I should be blaming them on my problems? Seen plenty of fucking landlords though.
It’s an issue that requires way more nuance than we’re used to with online discourse. You may not of seen an immigrant in your community recently but the issue can still have a profound effect on your community in other ways. For example, H1B’s taking over the tech sector. IT was basically the replacement job for the younger generations who would never have access to good paying factory jobs that have been sent overseas.
That can make your neighbors who went to college for a degree in IT very bitter, and understandably so. H1B is basically a policy that suppresses workers wages while giving greedy corpo’s access to defacto slaves. There are reasons for every part of the political spectrum to not like it and yet politicians from every part of the political spectrum embrace it, this means your unemployed neighbor who did everything they were told to do and now has student loan debt and no future feel like they have zero political recourse to a problem that is very real and very legitimate.
Immigrants cause downward pressure on tech workers’ wages but the constant push for more STEM graduates and more programmers had no effect I’m sure. Not like tech companies have been conspiring with states to reduce the cost of tech labour for decades by trying to flood the labour market with both internal graduates and external graduates.
It’s quite difficult to even sponsor a visa these days. It’s basically just a last resort option if you can’t fill a position

American detected, opinion rejected.
Every Western nation is importing Indians since Modi, who is a very dangerous person, requires that as part of any trade deal with India. Professionals being usurped by low-wage Indians isn’t a purely American issue. Ask anyone in IT.
We have had Indians here for a few generations at least, I mean, empire and all that…
Mostly had experience meeting Sikhs and they are some of the nicest people you could imagine. They grew up in the same area as me, so did their parents.
Sure but as I originally pointed out I was referring to people from India brought in specifically to undermine wages and treat them as indentured servants. Wasn’t talking about people who migrated generations ago or even every single current day first generation migrant. If you want to understand why some groups of people are complaining about immigration you need to move past the mindset that “anyone who questions or criticizes immigration is just racist” because that kind of dismissive thinking is itself a prejudice that will restrict you from finding actual answers.
A person can make a critical observation about one type of immigration (wage suppression) and still be fine with immigrants in their community, or rather non-white people who immigrated generations ago as you’ve pointed out. It’s just very strange how super-hyper-defensive people get online when someone brings up the overt wage suppression tactics tech companies are using, despite many communities having legions of young intelligent educated men going unemployed because those “just learn coding bro” jobs are being intentionally filled by imported slaves so the CEO’s can get more bonuses.
At no point did I criticize Sikhs or even all Indian immigrants, just mentioned that many of them in recent years are imported for the purpose of suppressing tech workers wages and this is bound to cause resentment. I never said Indian people were evil or weren’t nice, I’m not sure what triggered you to need to say that?

If they start making valid arguments instead of just “get rid of immigrants” then I might listen. Like we could talk about different visas, I generally think the skilled worker visa is alright and something to encourage. Extending or restricting some industries might be a point to consider in some cases too.
But when the people I see smashing up the street and leaving nails or broken glass in front of my house just complain about anyone brown, I won’t take them seriously.
The solution to this problem is not to end immigration but to: ensure that the minimum wage is more than a poverty wage; ensure that migrant workers join unions where available; ensure that migrant workers have the same rights as non-migrant workers and are not afraid of being brutalised by immigration police and being sent home if they lose their job; ensure that undocumented migrants are given a route to become legal and documented citizens to undermine modern day slavery and cash-in-hand tax avoiding bosses.
Demonising migrants and empowering the state to deport them en masse and brutalise them just causes more wage suppression as immigrant workers never fight against their bosses alongside non-migrant workers and accept worse pay and working conditions in order to keep their job and immigration status.
