To me it’s still crazy why there are still so much rep voters. I get it when you’re a billionaire, but why would normal people want their country to get fucked up even faster than is already happening, making their own lives even worse than they already are. I mean, I get it when you’re lied to, but now they have seen with their own eyes how life became so much harder under rep leadership. Choosing for that is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. “I have trouble paying my bills and groceries. I want food to be less affordable and less available and I want to pay more to fill up my truck, and I want it yesterday!”

but what about abortion? What other options do I have?

American “Christians” have been indoctrinated that anyone to the left of Trump is going to force abortions and sex changes on people.

The fact that obvious fear mongering bullshit and fake news has sufficient effect is a clear sign the education system is failing massively. Same goes for the extreme form of religions way too many people follow. My country has the lowest percentage of religious people of all countries while the average education level is high. And even here education is lacking. But the amount of young people following a religion is rising again, probably because education has been getting worse the past 20 years.

The minority government need to work together with either left or right, and some are blocking the left while on the right 3 parties are forcing a front: a right wing party, a right wing farmers party and a religious party. The last one will only work together if stricter abortion laws come. So either the government falls, the left somehow gets chosen anyway (hopefully) or we’re getting more fucked by the right. And we’re all getting fucked because of France, causing a massive economical crisis, while it also looks like the AI bubble might burst causing an economic crisis by itself. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck can we go back 30 years please! Back then we were able to all work together to fix the holes in the ozone layer, now we work together to all get fucked hard.

Sorry for my rant, it’s all so overwhelmingly depressing. I didn’t even talk about the wars and ride in world tension. Fuuuuck

I’m going to check that, thanks.

I understand why people chose for the right, with an overload of fake information, fear mongering, populist politicians. The right is really good at using social media. So I understand why people fall for that shit. But after the right fucked everything up, how can you still support the right?

When you want a table, and a carpenter says “I can do that!” and you order a table, but it falls apart as soon as you get it. Why would you say “can I have another table, and add 4 chairs please!” when this so called carpenter clearly is a massive failure. Normally you’d get angry, ask a refund and go somewhere else.

I know it’s not this simple, but at the same time… Come on, wtf…

Do you want an actual answer or echo chamber?

      Actual answer:

The social issues are driving a wedge between voters. Believe it or not, the push for inclusivity in everything – from diversity in casting (see Richard Dreyfuss’s beef with the Academy) to transgender athletes in sports – is, right or wrong, clashing with peoples values and norms. The GOP promises to end that. Also, this is a bigger decider than anybody is willing to admit.

The Urban vs Rural push and pull of policy. What works for city dwellers doesn’t work for a country mouse. And policy tends to develop in an urban environment and then it is applied broadly. So you get things like proposed electric car mandates when the range isn’t built for daily long distance travel or heavy loads or either in extreme weather, and environmental policy that totally knee caps family farms or the entire timber industry of a region to protect a cute little bird. The GOP claimed to want to keep gas prices low and remove barriers to industry caused by environmental policy (nevermind that the EPA came from their party and was spurred into action because our rivers were starting on fire).

Nationalism is a big piece of this. These Americans want security. And they claim to want a level playing field. You don’t get to sneak into this country and use our social system. You don’t get to speak another language or hang up another country’s flag (great great great grandpa never did that when came over on the boat). They want someone that will enforce our immigration laws. They also want a strong military because America is the greatest military and the rest of the nations want what we have. Do you want the king of England coming over here to take what’s yours? The GOP claims (despite all counter evidence proving that DJT hates the military personnel) to be pro military. Somehow, they’re also opposed to military intervention in foreign nations (🤯).

“And we also need those guns to protect us. It’s our right. It’s what the founding fathers wanted. Should a school shooting happen? No. But nobody should take my guns.” The GOP and Gun Advocacy Groups claim the Democrats want to take away all of their guns. This has been very effective to not only win elections for the GOP but also to sell more guns and ammo each election.

Don’t forget good ol’ American Christianity. The godless liberals want to kill all of the unborn babies. If you vote for a Democrat, you vote to kill a baby. You also vote to have your kids indoctrinated with homo theory in public schools with their drag queen story hours. God Bless America, and God Bless the GOP.

Another fun one is, “I’m not a billionaire now, but when I am, I wouldnt want to be treated unfairly and taxed…” Dude and Dudette have a better chance of being struck by lightning than becoming a billionaire, not matter how hard they work. That mentality is there, but they don’t admit to it. But also the GOP frames it not as tax breaks for the rich. The GOP frames it as tax breaks for business/industry for job creation. The Democrats want to hold industry and business back by taxing it, according to the GOP voters.

And the good old American value of hard work. Nobody gets anything for free. If somebody gets a helping hand that doesn’t come from the GOP voter’s church and only at Christmas time, they’re lazy, or they’re a welfare queen. Because the GOP has proven time and time again that most “welfare” recipients are scamming scumbags who just don’t want to work. The GOP will end that goldbricking. And if somebody gets for free something the GOP voter had to work/suffer for, that’s unfair. Lobsters in a bucket mentality.

That’s just touching the surface on some of the reasons that people vote for the GOP, as I see them from some other side of the political spectrum. If I take the time to think it through from their side, some of their issues seem valid, but I wholeheartedly oppose the cruelty they employ in their policies and enforcement.

      The echo chamber answer:

Because they’re evil/bad people who enjoy the suffering of others.

than anybody is willing to admit.

Only on the Left. They’ve convinced themselves pronouns and genders are the most important and fundamental issue in life. Tokenism is more important than tackling genuine issues related to the struggles of lgbt+. Pointing out homophobia in islam is “islamophobic” and “racist” by default. You’re not supposed to say that white supremacist gays and lesbians exist and they hide behind a rainbow flag to avoid scrutiny all the time.

If you disagree then you’re a “fascist”.

Left in USA can’t expect Republicans to tackle the issues of workers and poor. Left expects workers, poor, lgbt+ and non-white people to STFU and vote blue no matter who. “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.”

It’s far easier to pretend everyone is evil if they don’t agree with the newest piece of fringe leftist progressiveism and purity tests.

It’s “whom” either way, because the “to” is still there, it just comes at the end of the sentence, something which works perfectly fine in English and doesn’t hamper understanding at all.

        Correct.
Even in the absence of “to”, ‘whom’ is correct: Whom do I thank…

I want to fund Zelensky statues in places Trump likes. It’s a complete waste of money but I want it anyway. He’s been at war longer than any of those confederate shitheels we have statues of now.

Eh I’m of the opinion that erecting statues of people who are still alive, especially politicians, is a bad idea. Never know who will turn bad and when.

FWIW, the Ukraine-based designers of 3D-printable Zelensky models is legion, and they’re either free or the funds go directly to supporting the people there!

If you don’t have a printer, or know someone who does, oftentimes public libraries will —or maker spaces, gaming shop communities, high schools, colleges, etc.

Also, the cost in filament/resin is suuuper cheap (e.g. <5¢ to print a PC for D&D), so do tip/donate to the place/person you choose. 🤓
