I am starting to acknowledge the western imperialism and the propaganda I internalized over the years. Especially now that I read Marxist theory. Still can’t figure out why other commies adore some of those real socialist countries so much, especially the glorifying memes. Don’t get me wrong, I like to learn as much as possible from them, but I get why the memes can be off putting.
The simple answer is that it’s important to make people understand that there are legitimate alternatives to the western system that exist today. It doesn’t mean that life in AES states should appeal to you personally, it’s that they work for the people living in them, and you support their right to self determination. A huge part of western propaganda is to dismiss the alternatives are dysfunctional and dystopian, so that people here don’t learn from their lessons.
