This seems more like a [email protected] story than ‘good news’.
Whether or not their kids get to eat lunch shouldn’t be a decision low-income families need to make, and exploitative prison labor shouldn’t be used as a stop-gap solution.
It’s “good news” because $4,000 of school lunch debt for kids is paid off. It’s not about the how’s or why’s that had to be done. It’s about what was done right now.
By your definition, there can’t be any good news until all the worlds problems are solved. That doesn’t work for this community. I’m over the whole doomscrolling attitude of Lemmy.
