    This confirms that Ansarallah is not looking to capture Aden by force, but rather to establish good ties with an independent southern Yemeni state.

    I honestly disagree with this position. Yemen was only split up due to colonialism and allowing UAE puppets to the south of you only seems to be repeating the mistakes of Syria. Assad allowed the conflict in Idlib to cool, and from that point, essentially signed a death warrant on unifying all of Syria under the Syrian government.

    Perhaps my perspective is colored too much by the experience if Syria, but I largely disagree with allowing a contemptuous and backstabbing enemy like the UAE to set up there little puppet government over South Yemenis.

      I don’t think Al-Bukhaiti is saying they want a divided Yemen. He’s just saying that Aden should have some autonomy.

        From what I’ve seen it reads to me that they are speaking about an independent South Yemen. Perhaps I am misreading this and other similiar claims, but I’d need to see something more concrete to change my view that Ansarallah is merely speaking of autonomy. If that was the case, I could definitely see the reason for it, considering the historical domination of the North over the south since reunification.

      I would only support an independent South Yemen if it’s going to be a socialist state guided by Marxism-Leninism, which it won’t be, unfortunately.
