I’m hosting on my NAS. And use dyndns for my router since im on dynamic ip. Moved my domain to the dyndns host for better subdomain setup, not relly moved but changed nameservers to dyndns provider.
To handle all requests and SSL certs I use caddy on the same nas as sharkord. The setup is straight forward especially when you use caddy. Sharkord needs SSL to allow mic and camera support. All features work even though its still alpha.
Upload, picture sharing, videos sharing, screen sharing everything works like a charm. Its a bit tricky to setup push to talk since this feature is still on the roadmap but using one extra tool “Mic mute” you can comfortably setup PTT on your client if required.
Overall I’m very happy, all data is on my NAS, performance is good. My crew is happy. Sharkord is very discord like in ui and usage so dragging friends from discord was easy. Hope that helps
Hearing your experience with it does help! Thank you for taking the time.
I self host a lot of different services for myself that’s all accessible via VPN. Everything is behind Caddy, and has an SSL cert, but only accessible on my network or via VPN.
I may investigate a VPS for running Sharkord for friends as I don’t want to expose my network more to the outside world. But this sounds rather easy, so thank you!
