Title. I bought a 1200w Seasonic Vertex GX 1200w to power a 5070ti, but various circumstances (you know the ones) have me going back to Radeon for the first time since 128mb GPUs were considered high-end.
It may incredibly dumb on my part, but I’m thinking of getting the Sapphire Nitro+ 9070xt, as it is quite possibly the best looking card I have ever seen. Not to mention my new build already has the option for a native 12whp (2x6 with a 600w limit), so I was hoping not to waste it. I’m just a little stressed out about the way the 12whp is implemented, as apparently Buildzoid took a look at it and it’s just an RTX 50 series connection but sideways.
I’m not sure if there’s anyone with any kind of knowledge on this who can chime in to advise me one way or another. I’m not looking for “12whp bad”. I’m looking for someone with actual electrical knowledge who can say whether or not the card is going to burst into flames.
Good or bad, I’d like to hear what people have to say. I’m considering an XFX Mercury Magnetic Air 9070XT (with RGB, or V2, or whatever it is) as my alternative if the risk is high enough, but I could have just reused my EVGA P2 850 Supernova with the custom sleeved black and white cables in that case, which has me a little bummed out. Either way, all opinions are welcome.
