Because investors are bailing out and won’t touch the US market with a 10 foot pole as long as consistency and the rule of law don’t exist in the US political system.

Oh, conservatism is ingroup loyalty. It’s the innate human tribalism of insisting your guy should get to say what’s real, because he’s your guy. These people think that if the right guy moved a “beware of falling rocks” sign, the rocks would fall somewhere else.

Their stated arguments are ad-hoc justifications for whatever their betters need to be true today. They think that’s all you’re doing. They think that’s all there is.

You drastically underestimate how many adults were raised by abusive parents…

For them, getting threatened with something really bad, then getting something kind of bad is something to be grateful for.

      Oh he had a reason.

Donald Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social that “THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!!” at 9:37 a.m. on Wednesday, just hours before announcing a 90-day pause on most tariffs, which significantly boosted the stock market.

The fucker is insider trading in fucking broad daylight. This is like the most blatant market manipulation I’ve ever seen.

I called this shit from the beginning, that the tariff bullshit was just a legit-seeming way to make the market do stuff he could easily predict (by directly causing). Didn’t realize he was literally communicating, nakedly, when to buy and sell though. Fucking WILD. And I promise before long he uses that exact mechanism to do the opposite thing and fuck all the folks who get used to listening to such announcements.

And nothing will be done. Stock market itself is such a fuckin scam, and I say that as a dude with a 401k.

Also still good, spent $6.50 on a dozen XL pasture raised. Washed eggs will keep for weeks in the fridge.

I recognize you were making a joke, but there’s a real answer lol

Random “ooh, ooh, I know this!” moment. - They last for weeks at room temperature if you don’t wash the cuticle off - longer than washed eggs in a fridge. They often come with bonus chicken poop.

Yeah I looked into the two different storage methods awhile back due to lots of disparaging comments from Europeans and found there really isn’t much difference in outcomes between the two systems, washing vs not washing. The systems just developed differently organically in North America and Europe, and inertia keeps them going. Investing the resources to change the systems either way at this point is just not worth it

I’ve generally tried to stick with the most ethically raised eggs I can buy. If I hear a friend/family/coworker sells eggs I’m all up on that. Been a few years for that opportunity though

However the side effect is my eggs have continued to be available (until literally all the other ones ran out) at the same price since

They’re “expensive” but well worth it overall. I’m also assuming the continued availability and price reflects the conditions they’re kept in. If the flock wasn’t culled like all the big farms then I have to assume they’re treating their chickens right

            Cheers fellow egg lover!

What the markets going down, then up, then down over and over indicates is that it’s not just a bad market, it’s a volatile one. That’s even worse for businesses because it means the market is unpredictable, which is worse than just being bad or good when making plans for the future.

What is even worse is that the market is in fact NOT unpredictable. We have a criminal traitor doing some insider trading and letting his friends know when he is going to shut tariffs on and off.

Dow Jones is still up 2.95% by the year. We are now around the level of mid-August 2024. So most that has been lost now involves at least some level of speculation on the outcome of the US election 2024.

We need to stop worshiping the markets and reduce the size of the financial industry relative to the real economy. They don’t represent the reality for normal people and the financial industry is long past the point of being beneficial for efficient capital distribution. It is just parasites leeching the blood out of the real economy.
