Late last week, the Trump administration officially denied the state of Washington’s request for disaster aid to assist with recovery efforts related to last year’s “bomb cyclone” that killed at least two people and damaged hundreds of homes and businesses.

Last week, the administration notified North Carolina that it would no longer fully reimburse the state for funds it’s spending to recover from the devastation it suffered from Hurricane Helene last year. The move is particularly ironic considering that Trump’s pitch to North Carolina voters hinged on disinformation about the purported lack of federal aid. Democratic Gov. Josh Stein denounced the move, and North Carolina is also appealing the decision.

To put some context around these recent decisions, Trump has openly stated his desire to withhold disaster aid from California (led by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom) for the recent Los Angeles County wildfires recovery unless officials agreed to institute restrictive voting laws in the state.

I think a civil war is likely, but not necessarily an open war fought with guns (though there will be plenty of those), rather a war fought with denial of aid to those in desperate need after natural disasters and other catastrophes.

In otherwords, civil war is coming but it will look more like a series of endless Hurricane Katrinas except this time the president will actually laugh at the people dying as part of his public speeches.

Denial of critical aid is a reliable rationalization for martial law to a racist audience, you just need to let things truly start to break down, point and say “they are out of control!!!” and you are good to do whatever they hell you want in the minds of centrists who believe really hard that they aren’t racist.

The civil war should just be states wishing to secede & form a new government, and trying to negotiate the terms with the US peacefully first. If they want to make it bloody then that is on them.

I think we’re already in a cold civil war. Most folks are in denial but it’s escalating at a breakneck pace.
