    And the purchasing power has changed tremendously when established the minimum wage was $0.25 equivalent of $5.50 in today’s money. The purchasing power peaked in 1968, at $1.60 (almost $15 in 2025).

      That explains why a parent keeps talking about how well they lived on that wage, why can’t I do well on average wage in my area?
