Given that Valve is a private company, I hope this would also mean that it’s a bit harder for MS to attempt a hostile takeover by buying up majority stocks.

But yeah, MS can fuck right off. The only reason to buy Valve would be to reduce competition

Since it’s a private company, they can’t perform a hostile takeover. There are no shares to buy.

Actually, private companies can still have shares - they’re just not listed through a public stock markets - and the transfer of such generally need to be approved by the company.

We couldn’t launch your game because you need to update your Microsoft Steam Game Bar and Microsoft Steam Experience add-ons to access Microsoft Valve Pass games… Would you like to visit the Windows store now?

This is my fucking nightmare. Installing Xbox game pass games on windows already sucks, especially since it’s so locked down. Even the saves are locked down.

It’d make pc gaming just another console

I kinda doubt that Valve would sell. They are a small private company and from what I know, the owner group are already wealthy beyond understanding.

Plus I think that breaking the Microsoft monopoly on gaming is Gabe’s mission in life. For those that might not remember, Gabe Newell was the biggest name that moved gaming from DOS to Windows. The fact that Gabe was a part of the golden age of Microsoft and never went back and his company is a thorn in the side of Microsoft constantly… While Gabe is still alive, I don’t see Valve ever being anything but a private owned company.

I almost choked when you wrote „small private company“ … Valve makes billions in revenue each year - it is just not public how much exactly (since it is a private company)
