In the first comprehensive review of Colorado land use laws, the National Zoning Atlas found that you can build single-family homes almost anywhere. But apartments, condos and townhomes are widely prohibited.

    Single-family homes are allowed by right on 92% of residential land in Colorado. Duplexes and multifamily homes with four or more units are widely prohibited or subject to public hearings.

    Crazy to think you need a public hearing for a multifamily home, but if someone owns an estate they can build 4 homes on it without any oversight

    This is why we need state laws that ban single-family only Zoning. Don’t let rich people controlling municipalities and deny housing to others
