A dumb take. Outlier polls may be flawed or they may contain useful information that other pollsters are missing. But we won’t find out which if they get publicly shamed for releasing them.
I think the criticism is that they’re repeatedly publishing these and claiming they’re outliers without attempting to show how they got their results, from what I’m reading.

There’s a blue leftist movement (Bernie Politics), a blue liberal movement (Obama Politics), and then there’s Red Trump MAGA…
A lot of people in that leftist crowd don’t think Biden cares about them or that the current generation of Democrats can get anything done but they sure don’t want Trump. A lot of people in the center (including independents) don’t get the message about Biden’s accomplishments, including the Obama politics crowd (and a large part of that is folks just don’t want to have conversations like this, and the conservative media machine is very good at pushing nonsense about how Biden is ineffective).
I would add that polls don’t mean shit that far away from the vote. People can still be angry for some good reasons, and manage to do best thing to do on D-day. I still remember when polls were saying that nobody would vote for Trump.
Look, this is politics and all, but blatant false equivalencies in a world of disinformation is dangerous, unenlightening, and unproductive. I’ll leave it for now, but try to be more thoughtful in the future.

I agree with you that America does desperately need a truly progressive alternative. But the problem is FPTP exists. Until it is gone, voters are screwed.

Even as an outlier, this is only really interesting as a demonstration of the power of Fox News / right-wing propaganda. Objectively, Biden is a bland no-drama candidate. His only scandal isn’t even his - it’s his son’s. He should have a fairly high approval because he’s weathering quite a few crises (not to mention cleaning up after Trump driving the country straight into a brick wall). And likewise, any rational person will have written Trump off as a dangerous easily-manipulated man-child sociopath - that’s demonstrated in pretty much every speech he gives.
The idea that even an outlier has Trump leading by 10 is only possible because the Fox News echo chamber actually works, and is still continuing to pull a substantial minority of country to the right. I would love for an epidemiologist to quantify it somehow, but at this point I’m guessing it’s a 20-25 point swing.

Polling means nothing these days. Election trends matter. That’s it.

We won’t have a real understanding until we can count Trump primary votes and compare that to the state by state results in the 2016 primary and general.
Then it’s matter of following state by state polling until election day.
