I am back on Lexapro due to complications with getting my Sertraline and it’s making me feel tired.
Maybe I am taking too much?
On top of that, there is the Guanfacine which I take at night, but that affects me into the morning.
What should I do? I feel that it’s affecting my executive functioning and I need that. I take Abilify as well. Does that make me feel tired all the time and give me brain fog? I take Vyvanse too.
I need to pinpoint why I am so tired all the time…
I am Autistic with ADHD and possibly OCD, btw.
I don’t have useful advice, but I’ve also had extreme drowsiness from Sertraline and Escitalopram. A friend of mine is on Bupropion which I heard worked a bit differently.
In my case I ended up off them because they were impeding my life too much. Started working with a therapist instead which helped over time.
Best of luck.
Yeah, gotcha.
I might switch to wellbrutin.
Have you spoken with your healthcare provider about this? There’s a lot of options when it comes to antidepressants and everyone tolerates them differently. If the side-effects of lexapro are intolerable for you, then you should ask about other options.
I also experienced extreme drowsiness from lexapro and had to try a few options before landing on celexa (similar to lexapro) for now. I’m on Vyvanse as well.
Edit: I also tried sertraline and found it to be effective, but my digestion was unable to tolerate it 😔
Thank you!
My psychiatrist isn’t that good; she thought that Sertraline (Zoloft) and Lexapro were “basically the same thing” even though Sertraline at least helps with my daily traumatic flashbacks.
Yeah, celexa, eh? I just need something that isn’t going to impair my executive functioning and make me lie down for a nap.
Insomuch as they’re both SSRIs they are basically the same. Many of them are, including citalopram. Different people experience them differently, though, so they’re not equivalent.
Wikipedia has a list of drugs broken down by type. In some types, like SSRIs, may cause drowsiness, while others likely won’t, like NDRIs. In fact NDRIs are often stimulating, so sometimes they’ll try adding it in conjunction with an SSRI that’s making a patient drowsy, to counteract it.
I would like to try an NDRI then.
