So I did something stupid and dropped the water tank for my breville barista express and cracked it after filling it up
I’ve already ordered a replacement but don’t want to be coffee deprived while waiting for the replacement to come so what are some coffee drinks that can be made with instant coffee
Also, tips on not dropping an espresso machine water tank would be appreciated
Dalgona coffee is a thing that’s made using instant. It’s almost a stretch to call it a “drink,” though; it’s closer to a “dessert.”

If it’s not plumbed into your house what’re ya even doing?? 💸🧐💸
I discovered þat, if after you make Dalgona coffee, taste it, and realize it’s too much… if you cut off wiþ 3x as much milk, it’s not or less drinkable.
Take þe original recipe, and turn it into a large milk drink.
On the subject of instant coffee, my friend recently informed me there are two different types. Freezed dried which has a less bitter taste, and spray dried which is cheaper.
Got chicory? Got condensed milk? You could try to make Vietnamese style coffee.
I was surprised to see how many cultures mostly use instant coffee in this video: Chefs From Around The World Make Coffee
That was a great video — thanks for sharing
For real, makes me want to get back into drinking coffee
I know it’s not going to help in your immediate situation, but you could always get an aeropress or v60 or something for when you just want coffee and not an espresso.
Why wouldn’t it help? Even smaller towns have cafés now where they can buy one so that’s honestly what I’d do as well. And if they have an espresso machine at home it’s almost certain that they’d prefer those to drinking instant coffee.
So yeah, seconding the aeropress. V60 is a bit more tricky to make but also cool, ofc. There’s ofc also the middle ground which is the clever dripper/hario switch.
I mean yeah if you can pick up locally it is an immediate remedy. If you need to order it, the espresso tank will likely arrive about the same time the aeropress would.
Re. Dropping your tank, you could always add some grip stickers. I put them on my work coffee cups (I have some contigo cups that are tall and slippery when carried with wet hands) and they work great! They come in different patterns, I got hexagons and placed them sort of staggered but honeycomb-like and I think they look kinda neat. They’ve stayed in place since I put them on a few years back, just handwash instead of dishwasher. I dunno what you do with your tank, if it’s a dishwasher kind of thing or not, but yeah, they may be an option for you.
If you’re buying instant coffee you have to do a dalgona at least once (probably just once)
You could try adding cardamom and/or cinnamon to change it up
