I just learned that when Trump is translated into Spanish they make him sound reasonable and smart. I was wondering why some Hispanics give him the time of day, well it is because they are doing the exact same shit our media is doing.

What in the literal fuck is up with all this whitewashing!?

Did you forget yet about how we wrote that there might be data showing that trans people should be more likely to get arrested? What if that were true? Or what if non-binary people are ten times more likely to traffic infants? What if puberty blockers are a kind of sex crime? What if doctors are climbing through windows to suture penises to sleeping cheerleaders? The next time you see a trans person, you ought to ask yourself these questions.

Oh dear that last phrase is the bollocks. ROFL

I dunno, most news sites seem pretty good at spreading anti trans propaganda on their own, usually quoting transphobes verbatim and even using their language when not quoting them.

Edit: Perhaps this was more correct some years ago

I mean this only happened two days ago. Skimming through the comments it seems like it was written by Matt Walsh; it was the BBC.

The comic is about the news reframing bad stuff said about trans people to not obviously be about us, and my comment is pointing out that I don’t often see this but rather see news gleefully fuel the anti-trans fire.

Edit: in fact your linked article is a great example. it specifically uses transphobic dogwhistles and uses languages that creates sympathy for the transphobes yelling about people minding their own business.

Edit 2.0: It occurs to me that you maybe thought I didn’t think there was much transphobia being pushed by the news these days, but by “this” I mean what the comic is saying and not what I am saying.

Please don’t overthink my response. Your second edit is spot on. Also I sometimes disagree slightly to push the discussion in an already agreed direction, and this is the case here. I hope this clears that up.

Not them directly, but media that’s been bought up by right-leaning billionaires who value profit far and away over human rights. They’re easy allies, because both parties are happily willing to let the other do what it wants as long as each doesn’t get held to account by the other.

After shouting fake news for several years it turns out people are starting to question main stream media. Mostly their own propaganda stations.
