Trump and Putin are pals and both deserve thick gun barrels inserted in their asses.

Yes the US is definitely controlled by Russia. Tell me more about how the US would be a force for good if it weren’t for the evil foreigners. Moscow condemns US terrorism in Venezuela btw.

Of course they condemn. Anyway he removed Maduro but left the old government that supported him and Russia intact. What’s the point then?

My guess would be installing Machado but it remains to be seen. Not sure how they will do that from here. Could be more like air strikes for a while and then arming Guyana to take control of the petrol territory though.

Probably smart on their part, she is deeply unpopular and I believe the military would coup if she were put in power. I hate to hand it to em but not putting her in power was a good decision. I wrote that comment with far less information than I have now.

What about Gonzales? he won nearly 70%

How it is going to help Venezuelans by removing Maduro but leaving his government?

Was he singlehandedly murdering those people?

Am I confused as to what your are trying to say? Of course US intervention was not going to help Venezuelans. I’m not sure where you got the idea that I thought it would. The best way to help Venezuela would be to end the sanction regime. Was who singlehandedly murdering what people? I’d love to know your source on that stat about Gonzales.

Except the same people calling this a ‘liberation’ are also the people saying that Putin was a ‘genius’ for his Special Military Operation™

I enjoyed the statement out of the Russian Foreign Ministry today

“We call for immediate clarification of this situation. Such actions, if they did indeed take place, constitute an unacceptable violation of the sovereignty of an independent state, respect for which is a key principle of international law,” the ministry said in a statement.

Maybe Trump is just protecting English speakers in Venezuela with this move…

Russia is in a tough spot here. On the one hand, they’d love to play the “see, everyone does it, so our little invasion is perfectly fine”, but Maduro was a political ally, so they can’t really do that. On the other hand, they look like the buffoons they are now because the US simply did to their ally what they couldn’t do to a country without major alliances; that is quickly invade and get rid of the head of state.

Of course, they will say something like “Ukraine isn’t actually a sovereign state but rather a Russian oblast, unlike Venezuela which is totally more legitimate, so what you did is totally different from what we’re doing”. Some doublethink will do, no need to actually state anything rooted in reality.

If we be fair, when Russia stole Crimea, it was also not a big deal in grand scheme of optics. The main difference I see here is how quick and bloodless the invasion is.
