OK, it’s been 3 days. Monday I went to Kmart and bought a mini rice cooker. Rated for 1-2 serves. I do have a large rice cooker, but its fuckin useless for one serve of rice, being mostly useful for stews or stock or large quantities of rice. Like, 3 cups and over.
So far, I’ve been pretty impressed with the mini rice cooker. Does 1 asian serve or 2 anglo serves very very nicely. Have yet to give it a real smacking but so far it’s a winner. The eyewatering mint green enamel is a minus, but if it cooks up good I’ll forgive that aspect. Def worth a place on the countertop when living alone. Yes, I did try cooking poached eggs in it and it did pretty damn good.
I have the same rice cooker - it’s perfect for one or two people. I get two serves out of it, one for immediate eating and another for leftovers. I have, however, not tried to make poached eggs in it and I am intrigued!
Super easy. Half fill with water and activate cook function. When the machine switches to keep warm, add salt/vinegar to the water, then swirl the water and add the eggs. Make toast. By the time that’s done, the eggs are ready and can be removed with a slotted spoon onto the hot toast. Might have to experiment a bit for the perfect timing that you like.

TIL one Asian serve = two Anglo serves 😂
the young seagoons buy these, they last 6 months but are very good
I’ve been eying some of their stuff - the soup/toastie maker and also the mini hot plate / dehydrator for crafting endeavours
When I could eat them the jaffle iron was on heavy rotation
Can’t beat that jaffly goodness
Their microwave grill plate/sandwich maker is a winner at work.
This is the one i’m thinking of:

How good is it! I bought one after seeing it rated positively by Choice.
