In first-of-its-kind complaint, state accused four fossil fuel majors and US oil lobbying group of climate disinformation

And then? The oil execs aren’t remotely concerned.
I recently had to go to Exxon HQ in Houston. Oil money is so insanely large, all of the shit we bitch about with tech money pales by comparison.
Why do you think tech is sucking up to government? They want to replace those oil money influences with their own opinions and schemes. Oil is waning and tech is on the rise. It’s also why they so aggressively try to keep oil relevant, because they are making shit tons of money from it. It doesn’t help “us” in any way, we could easily all be driving electric and powered by renewables.
If you saw the things I saw, you might think differently about the behemoth that Oil represents. I’ve worked in tech 30 years, for both massive and minor companies. This was the first time being inside/on campus for a big entity. It’s something else entirely.
Tech can try all they want, but they’re not going to supercede oil in this space any time soon. It’s insane.
You should watch American gods. It’s very apropo to this conversation. It’s old money (gods) versus new
🖕Dharna Noor+theguardian. The headline should be:
Big oil lobby climate disinformation fueling climate crisis and high energy costs.
UK libel laws are pretty awful for the press.
