Eddie Bauer, a 106-year-old retailer, points to declining sales and "tariff certainty" as factors behind its latest move to seek bankruptcy protection.
Eddie Bauer used to be solid outdoor clothing. Before private equity fucked them, their clothing had a lifetime warranty on manufacturing defects. If a button fell off, or a zipper broke, you could go to any location and replace it for a new one. In fact I did this a few months ago. The people in the store said the new policy was 1-year after purchase, but they said to just grab a replacement anyway. Yes they could be pricey, but they also always had sales going on. I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything there for full price.
What a terrible site CBS is.
