Think less “Tour de france” and more “sunday boardwalk cruise” just trying to not let the pedals stop moving.

Yep, you don’t have to go ham to lose weight, or even get fit.

Be strict with your calorific intake and you can lose weight just by sitting on the couch.

Losing weight is easy, it’s just a question of will power. I have sympathy for people with significant mental or health issues, but most of them are just fucking weak and would rather eat a tub of ice cream than have a nice/healthy body.

No one wakes up fat, it happens over time after countless poor decisions.

Edit: Fatties are downvoting me lol, seethe

A healthy diet is more than just not eating unhealthy food. It’s about having the right balance of nutrition and that’s quite difficult in our world. Especially if you don’t have a lot of money. Or have other dietary restrictions.

Also no one wants sympathy they just want you to not be an arrogant prick.

Of course a healthy, balanced diet is advised, but we’re not talking about that, we’re talking about weight loss. You could eat nothing but burgers and fries and still lose weight, as long as you burn more calories than you consume, weight loss is inevitable and the easiest way to do that is simply to eat less.

I’m not arrogant, I’m opinionated and my opinion of fat people is just as valid as your opinion of me. But you’re probably only calling me a prick because the truth hurts.

I’m just trying to demonstrate that insulting people is not going to get them on side. And also spreading misinformation is unhelpful and dangerous, even if you didn’t mean to do it.

I get your point, but some people need tough love.

What misinformation are you talking about? I don’t think I’ve said anything factually incorrect.

Weight loss is absolutely not about a balance of nutrition. Weight loss is about calories in Vs calories out. It’s that simple.

Whoever told you weight loss is nutrition dependant lied to you my man.

I agree that there are societal issues when it comes to obesity, there is a reason why it is so prevalent in some countries and so rare in others.

But there comes a point where people have to take responsibility for themselves, no one is forcing a fat person to drink ten litres of coca cola a day and it would be unfair of them to blame their gorging on the state of current affairs.

The last thing I would endorse is a nanny state that is controlling of what you can and can’t eat.

You’re entitled to your opinion. I don’t see why I should respect people that don’t respect themselves.

If I had a big fat arse due to eating ten cream cakes a day for ten years, I wouldn’t expect respect, I’d expect people to say “my god, that’s a big fat arse!”.

Respect is to be earned, not simply expected.

It depends on the activity. I can’t exercise or clean unless I’m watching TV or YouTube. But I’ve tried the whole exercise while gaming thing, and it doesn’t work for me at all. Listening to audiobooks while doing literally anything else is also impossible.

I did it during covid / work from home times.

Every time I was in a boring work meeting I just got on the spin bike. Lost 6kg.

Probably because I stopped eating all the pastries at work.

Weight loss is almost 100% about calorie control, the exercise is just a great bonus.

In the context of weight loss, exercise is used primarily for calorie control anyway. Tho people who don’t know that can uptick calories to make up for the exercise and lose nothing or even gain more. Which obv you know but maybe someone out there is struggling with that

Wasn’t there a dietitian or something that wanted to prove a point so they ate nothing but burgers for 6 months and they actually lost a lot weight because burgers are not really particularly good quality food. They’re also super ill, so it’s not an advisable diet strategy.

Yeah, I think in response to supersize me.

Funnily, I’ve done the same thing. I lose weight really easily so way back before I developed a strict calorie schedule I would eat a lot of fast food and snacks like chips for time/calorie efficiency but still be underweight. Weight is basically all calories, but looking good at specific weights usually requires exercise.

Had elevated cholesterol though, so can also confirm it’s not great for you. It may have been fine if I was exercising as well, but I never ate as poorly as he did to make the point so I only got close.

I’m already underweight, so I probably need the opposite for a while.
