    Iirc, isn’t PieFed made from scratch though? If anything, both are inspired by Reddit, so saying it’s a fork of Lemmy wouldn’t be a form of “appropriation”? (is that the word?)

      I think it’s more likely plain ideocy in not knowing what a fork is. They just think that since piefed has similar enough features it had to have been based on Lemmy

        Yes, but afaik the only threadiverse software that is a fork of a previous project is Mbin (specifically forked from the defunct Kbin). Lemmy, Friendica and Piefed are, to my knowledge, all forum softwares made from scratch, therefore independent from one another, all implementing ActivityPub in a way that make them work as thread posts and thus federating with each other.
