The Queensland parliament is debating its third round of “adult crime, adult time” laws, in legislation which also rolls back the state’s drug diversion scheme and creates new move-on powers.

Human rights advocates say the changes target the state’s most vulnerable individuals, such as its homeless people.

    The vast majority of crime comes from people in bad situations, so yeah, this sounds designed to punish exactly the most vulnerable people in society.

    What a complete furphey.

    How about “wage theft is theft” while we’re at it? That’s much more damaging to society imo.

      Yep, and real estate investment practices are stealing homes from everyday people and the vulnerable. That’s another theft that’s hurting people who end up on the street because there’s nowhere they can afford.
