Spock Lives shirt
His shirt, Spock Lives, is a reference to the ending of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, in which Spock sacrifices himself (the few) to save the Enterprise (the many).
Understandably fan were upset about the death of a beloved character. I remember my mom at the time saying how horrible it was and that it ruined Star Trek for her.

After much thought on how to comment on this I’ve chosen the word ‘duh’

If you mean, duh, as in we know this, you may be mistaken. There have been many times I post the strip thinking, everyone knows X. Only to have someone ask who/what is/was X.
The only thing I think I neglected to mention was this strip was published after Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan but before Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, making the shirt fan theory at that point.
