Curious how people are feeling about the governor’s race. Opinions on candidates? Favorite attack ads or attack ad sponsorships?
Vote becerra if you want things to stay exactly the same.
Vote Hilton/bianco if you hate your neighbors. Vote steyer if you think there’s some chance he might actually follow thru on at least one of his promises for affordabiltyUgh I think you’re right. I haven’t submitted my ballot yet but I’ve been thinking I’d vote for Becerra. But the status quo isn’t that great. I definitely don’t want a republican to win though. My husband and I have been talking about splitting our votes between Becerra and Steyer in the hopes they’ll edge out any Rs. But neither of us believe Steyer is genuine. He read something yesterday that said Becerra’s campaign is largely small donations and Steyer’s is…all his own money.
That’s only half the story. All of the ads you see for Becerra are from the super pacs supporting him - from big megacorps.
So yeah, ‘his’ campaign is small dollar donations, but that doesn’t mean anything because all the big dollars are going thru a separate route. A look at the endorsements also helps. Progressives are lining, reluctantly, behind Steyer. Chevron and Uber and Cryptobros are lining behind Becerra.Fair enough. Not to sound all Lemmyish but I don’t see ads pretty much at all; we have a VPN and server-level pihole (very thankful that my husband is techy, I’m in the arts). Also we have electric cars so I don’t even go to the pump. That’s always a “fun” experience when I very occasionally have to rent a car. So yeah, I’m not really going on ads, but I believe you and I’m sure they’re everywhere right now. Political TV ads especially are a scourge and I don’t miss seeing them.
I find it interesting that Uber and Pg&e keep running attack ads against candidates for supporting private prisons and offshoring money… does that mean we can expect Uber and Pg&e to start showing up at private prison protests?
I’m pretty inclined to vote for anyone they are running attack ads against. I mean not anyone but it’s a mark in their favor if PG&E and Uber don’t like them.
