The article mentions that the Raspberry Pi 5, with its ARM processor, is still faster than the SpacemiT K3. It’s cheaper, too, with the 8GB Raspberry Pi being $200 and the SpacemiT K3 being $293.
I love to see RISC-V continuing to close the gap on ARM. I currently have an Orange Pi 5 (ARM) for my self-hosting needs, but I’d love for my next server upgrade to be a RISC-V device.

In the version you compare the risv costs +93$, yes; but it comes with 128GB storage and 8 AI cores (8+8 cores). You can plan a small videogame that uses the AI capabilities to have locally speaking NPCs or improved AI (ie: a “game director” in the vein of “Left4Dead” uses: on runtime’s player stats the chatbot suggest how many enemies to spawn etc.)
